New Endeavors
I have few big projects for the last half of the summer that I’m really excited about.
- Leading a Oneness Crusade at Edinbrook. We need to get everyone understanding, participating, and cheering us on as we press foreward to do great things for God. Elements of this will include group meetings, one-on-one meetings, addressing issues such as grasping a passion for our mission, living in the present rather than the past, and acquiring a fuller understanding of God’s intentions for this church.
- Writing a nine-week curriculum for our first all-church Equip U session in the fall. This will take intense focus and persevering effort to accomplish. This study will investigate the Word’s teaching on spiritual growth and development, how that happens, what it looks like, and how that can happen in each of our lives. Your ongoing prayers for this project are desperately needed.
- Re-writing QUAKE. The impact of QUAKE has been truly amazing for those who committed to the 28-day experience. I have been strongly encouraged by many people (several in places of significant influence) to do a re-write so that QUAKE can be used by other churches in their pursuits of generosity. How exciting that God has given Edinbrook something that may have a far greater impact on the Kingdom than just our congregation!
I am so grateful for the gifted and passionate teachers we have at Edinbrook so we can all partner together to achieve God’s objectives. God has given Pastor Bob a Sunday morning teaching series for the last seven weeks of the summer that will sharpen us, enlighten us, challenge us, and inspire us. (check out the Post Script at the end) It’s called “Home Makeover: Lessons from My Dad”. At the same time, his ministry will allow me to do what God has called me to do.
Isn’t it incredible how God arranges all of the pieces to accomplish His work best?
PS–After much deliberation, prayer, and then an affirmation from the Board, I was going to ask Pastor Bob to preach the last few Sundays of the Summer. Before I could ask him, Pastor Bob came to me and said something like this: “Just tell me if I’m crazy or if you’re against this, but God has laid this seven-week preaching series on my heart. I’m wondering if you would consider letting me preach this the last part of the summer.” Ok…let me think about this… God had been preparing Bob at the same time He was speaking to me! Pastor Bob has never asked to preach a series before. I love the way God works!
